Transform Your Life with Meditation!

It's so easy, a caveman could do it!


There are so many positive benefits to learning the skill of meditation. 


We all live busy lifestyles! With that busyness, we can create stress build-up in our bodies causing disease and dysfunction. Meditation helps quiet the mind so that the nervous system can continue normal function. This is one tool that can be so beneficial to moving us from the "fight, flight, or freeze" sympathetic nervous system setting (when we perceive we are in danger) to the parasympathetic state where we can truly rest. 


The dangers we feel in life make no difference to the body. We can be facing a predator, an angry boss, rush-hour traffic, or an overdrawn bank account. Family drama can also activate the sympathetic nervous system putting us in the fight or flight state. 


The skills learned during meditation can help bring more peace into your every day by intentionally resetting your nervous system to the parasympathetic. 


Here's the kicker! We may not even realize we are stuck in a perpetual state of fight or flight. Basically, the sympathetic nervous system never shuts off! This can cause major problems in the body. What would normally be helping us save our own life becomes an inflammatory, disease-causing problem.


How Do I Meditate Properly?


  • Get into a space where you will not have distractions. No loud noises, technology, or other people who will disturb you. 
  • You may choose to put on soft, calming music without lyrics. No singing, just instrumentation. There are many different instruments that can have a healing affect on the body. Play with it. 
  • Sit or lay down. I recommend sitting because you will be less likely to fall asleep. 
  • Be still. 
  • Focus on your breathing. In - fill the chest and stomach. Out - naturally let go of the breath. You may choose to start with a couple "Aaaahhhhhs" (like a happy sigh), but then come back to normal breathing. 
  • If your mind wanders, don't worry about it. Come back to focus on your breathing. You may also bring your focus to the tip of your nose. 
  • Don't get discouraged. In the beginning it could take some time to settle down and stop a racing mind. I recommend allowing for 30-60 minutes. You will settle down. This is what you want. 
  • You may choose to find a space where you can be alone in nature, sit on the grass, and have your feet in the grass. Nature is conducive to healing meditation.
  • Meditation is essentially doing absolutely nothing. You're not trying to meditate because trying is doing something. Just sit, breathe, allow your mind to still. Allow whatever comes to come and go. Just do nothing at all. No effort whatsoever.


Along with calming the nervous system and alleviating stress, meditation has also shown to improve cognitive function and increase mindfulness during normal daily routines. 

Advanced forms of meditation can also help with connection to the Divine and Spirit Guides! 


Learning to properly set intentions for meditations can bring much needed answers and revelations to some of life more seemingly complicated issues. 


You absolutely can set questions or intentions, but remember once you start the meditation, you have to let all that go and do nothing. Eventually, the still, small voice will come with an answer or a solution to your problem will show up creatively.
